Cabinet Midnight Cocktail

Cabinet Midnight Cocktail

Two weeks ago, our store was the setting for something quite special: a Cabinet Midnight Cocktail. Thanks to three amazing acts (Pupkulies & Rebecca, Die Piratenbraut and Bonaparte DJ Set), an ultimate surrealistic vintage phone scenery and streams of Champagne, it became a memorable evening.  Immortalized here by Karl Anton Koenigs.

Hinrich Kroeger Ceramics

Hinrich Kroeger Ceramics

Hinrich Kröger, born and raised in Berlin, is a painter and ceramic artist, whose atelier can be found on Gipstrasse 13. We totally fell for his "Roco-Cocteau-esque" pieces, including fluffy poodles, dancing pugs and tons of gold.

First Press Day

Yesterday evening we invited journalists and collaborators to our very first press day. The reception was good fun, but unfortunately the camera battery went low, so that I could only take pictures of the 15 first minutes. I'll be better prepared next time, I promise. Thank you to everyone who attended!

Isabel Marant Overknee Boots

Isabel Marant Overknee Boots

If this winter overknee boots are a must-have, Isabel Marant overknees are a categorical imperative. Hardly any designer has managed to create such a covetable, yet wearable version of this traditionally quite "dingy" footgear, and it is no wonder that they already count among our bestsellers. Just as a second skin, they work amazingly with slouchy harem shorts, casual leggings and fitted tulip skirts; but they're at their best, paired with nothing more, nothing less, than bare legs and a nonchalant dress.

Victorian calling card cases

Victorian calling card cases

These mother of pearl calling card cases rank among the most rare, subtle and precious pieces. As authentic Victorian antiques, they have been collected over years and we are delighted to have them in store! They were meant to carry calling cards, which were used in the 19th century between middle- und upper-class ladies and gentlemen to formally introduce themselves and to report visits, according to a strong etiquette. Gentlemen often carried their cards in their pockets, while ladies used elegant card cases, such as these. Their delicate mother of pearl mosaics and fragile beauty make them a perfect gift... or a coquettish statement on a boudoir's table.

Welcome to DEPARTMENTSTORE-CABINET

Welcome to DEPARTMENTSTORE-CABINET

See above the first pictures of the store. For more, please go to ABOUT > IMPRESSIONS.

After months of extensive research and meticulous preparation, we are finally pleased to welcome you to our new store, DEPARTMENTSTORE - CABINET. As an extension of the DEPARTMENTSTORE - QUARTIER 206, it is dedicated to its edgier followers, through a unique mix of fashion, denim, accessories, objects and art. DEPARTMENTSTORE - CABINET is conceived as a Renaissance cabinet of curiosities, in which each piece is curated with passion, inspiring the mind and triggering the imagination. Think of luxurious Isabel Marant dresses meeting comfy Alexander Wang jerseys and tailored Acne blazers. Beyond that, the store offers an edgy selection of hard-to-find and hand picked items, ranging from exclusive fashion collaborations and original art photography, to authentic antiques. The whole is set in an eclectic interior inspired by the Salons of 19th Century Paris Bohème, a place where the new, rare and wonderful is mixed in unexpected ways, where norms are fearlessly defyed and where the forward face of now meets then.

This blog is the virtual interface of DEPARTMENTSTORE - CABINET and its aim is to provide news about the store and the brands, but also to share all the exciting things that come along our way while rummaging showrooms, ateliers and attics...
